    M&M GOAT RANCH is a joint venture between Bert Mercer and Wyatt Mercer (father and son).  Our goal is to breed high quality South African Boer goats for others who want to raise goats for fair projects.  We also strive to raise high quality breeding stock for other breeders.

      We have a decent tract of land that we needed something to do with.  Not being large enough for cattle, goats became the perfect solution.  We have found that goats are very enjoyable, fun and entertaining.  Goats can be intelligent, stubborn, and unpredictable all at the same time.  We found that there is a lot of work involved, but fun work! We keep our herd fairly small ( around 20 or so does) so we can concentrate on quality. We have been in this since 2005. While we have learned a lot about goats,  there is still plenty to learn. It is a great challenge since both of us hold down full time jobs. Being in the Boer Goat business is a full time job in itself.

   We became members of the American Boer Goat Association, and most of our stock is registered.

   All of our stock is de-wormed when needed and vaccinated on a regular basis.  We also check their hooves on a regular basis to see if trimming is needed.  Our stock is mainly pasture fed and must be able to survive on forage. We use high quality show feed as a supplement.

   We purchased high quality breeding stock from other quality breeders with excellent bloodlines.  Bloodlines include Top Brass, Eggsfile, Painted Warrior, RRD Gunsmoke, Blackjack, Ryals Magnum, Eggs Natalie, Ghost Warrior, Eggstreme, Maul Xtender, Coni Mace, NBBG Renoir,  and other "Ennobled" Boer goats.

  We spent the first 5 years improving our herd does. We learned real quick that just a good buck will not get the quality we were looking for. We did that though a good buck that gave us good doelings when bred with the high quality does that we purchased from other  breeders.
